Leading professional painting tools manufacturer Purdy has announced the launch of Mentor of the Year for 2022, following the success of last year’s inaugural competition. Created to recognise those who are inspiring the next generation of professional painters and decorators, Mentor of the Year nominations open on 1 June 2022.
Purdy understands that workmanship and quality tools work hand in hand to deliver the best results. Professional decorators require a unique set of skills and high level of craftsmanship in order to deliver the quality, stand out finishes that customers are after.
Through its Mentor of the Year competition, Purdy hopes to underpin these values. The competition gives those learning the trade the chance to recognise the people that are having a positive influence on them and their learning, whether they run their own business, manage or train decorators in a larger firm or lecture at a decorating college.
From the entries, a college lecturer and a professional painter and decorator will be selected as winners – and will receive £1,000 each, while those that nominate them will each win a new Purdy backpack (pictured) filled with Purdy products. The two runners up will receive £500 each, with a range of Purdy products for their nominators.
Those who would like to make a nomination should visit the Purdy website, provide the name and details of the nominee and tell Purdy what makes them such a good mentor, why they are inspiring and what they have helped the person to achieve.
The entries will be judged by Phil Warwick of CITB, Neil Ogilvie of the PDA and Andy Cummins of Purdy. The shortlisted nominees will then be invited to a virtual interview, where they can explain more about the skills that they are instilling in the next generation of professional painters and decorators.
“After last year’s success, we are delighted to once again launch Mentor of the Year and provide an opportunity for the next generation of professional painters to shine the spotlight on those who are passing on their valuable knowledge and skills,” commented Andy Cummins, Senior Product Manager at Purdy.
Deadline for entries is 30 September 2022. See last year’s winners here.
