Leyland SDM had the pleasure of celebrating Pride with the company’s first-ever appearance at the UK’s largest LGBTQ+ celebration.

Leyland SDM puts pride into its local communities, pride into homes and pride into careers.

And that was on display as colleagues attended the decorating and DIY specialist’s Trafalgar Square London Pride stand on the weekend of 2/3 July 2022.

Cliff Rendell, HR Director said: “We were delighted to be involved in Pride in a more significant way than ever before and, in particular, to support our growing community in London.

“We believe that having an inclusive workforce brings not only diversity of thought, but also drives innovation, creativity and progress, which is key to everything we do.”

Leyland SDM arranged for award-winning author, commentator and lawyer Mohsin Zaidi to talk to colleagues on 30 June. An advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, BAME representation and social mobility, Mohsin was named by Attitude magazine as ‘a trailblazer changing the world’.

Leyland SDM also encouraged colleagues to design a T-shirt with the chance to win theatre tickets and produced a party pack to help colleagues and customers get in the Pride party mood.

The highlight of the celebrations came on July 2nd when Leyland SDM broke new ground by having representation at London Pride 2022, the UK’s biggest, most diverse Pride, attracting around 1.5 million people to the capital.

The Leyland SDM stand featured painting competitions, a photo booth and the opportunity for visitors to dress up as their favourite tradesperson.

Richard Kendrick, Marketing Director, added: “We are very excited to be involved in London Pride for the first time, which is such a significant occasion for the communities we serve.”

Leyland SDM has become one of the most recognisable and trusted decorating and DIY retail brands in central London with stores available in some of the capital’s most prominent locations.

Its 32 stores stock a comprehensive range of thousands of products, including paint and decorating essentials, timber, building materials, electrical fittings, tools, plumbing equipment, ironmongery and much more, all under one roof.

Some of the biggest and best-known DIY brands are available at Leyland SDM, including Dulux Trade, Leyland Trade, Farrow & Ball, Tesa, Bahco, Bosch, Purdy, Stanley, Ronseal and DEWALT.
