Johnstone's Paint Exchange

Don’t throw those old paint cans away. Save them from landfill by using this new service from Johnstone’s.

Johnstone’s Decorating Centre has launched its new Paint Exchange service. Available from 11th August 2022, account holders will be able to take their old paint cans into selected Johnstone’s Decorating Centres and exchange any brand of water-based paint can, with or without paint left in the can.

In conjunction with a specialist paint recycling partner any unused paint will be recycled into new paint and the empty packaging recycled into new paint cans. A staggering 55 million litres of paint goes into landfill each year, so the service aims to help reduce waste as well giving painters and decorators an easy and sustainable way to dispose of their old paint cans.

Peter Ashfield, Store Operations & Development Controller said: “We’re so excited to launch the Paint Exchange service. The painting and decorating industry is working towards becoming more sustainable and we’re proud to be playing our part in pushing it forward.”

Customers can take advantage of the programme by exchanging an old paint can when they purchase any new paint can in store.
