Global leader in professional painter products, 3M, supported Cheltenham Paint Festival by donating health and safety products to ensure artists were appropriately protected from airborne particles while creating their artwork at the event.
Returning for its eighth year, the festival saw more than 160 world-renowned street artists come together to transform 100 locations across the town by painting, spraying, or drawing murals to create an inspirational outdoor gallery. Headline artists included Antoine Guignard, also known as LPVDA, who’s described as a storyteller of urban poetry through his portraits, which are crafted using sanded, natural wood.
Artists were provided with a range of professional equipment by 3M, including the new Quick Latch Respirator to protect them from the airborne particles associated with spray painting, brush and roller painting, and orbital and manual sanding, as well as 3M PRO masking tapes to help create their murals and artwork.
Thanks to industry leading innovation, 3M professional home improvement products are designed and built to perform, helping professionals get work done safely, comfortably and to the highest standard possible.
Richard Davies, Home Improvement Shopper Marketing Lead for 3M, said: “The Cheltenham Paint Festival is a fantastic community event, which sees the best independent artists promote their individual styles and techniques to transform a wealth of local landmarks. But even with all eyes on the impressive artworks and creations, we must remember the risks to the artists’ health from airborne particles such as paint and dust if they’re not protected in the right way. We’re pleased we could work so closely with the event organisers to ensure respiratory protection is on the agenda for all artists, and hope they continue to prioritise it in their future projects.”
Andrew Davies, organiser of the Cheltenham Paint Festival, said: “The festival brings together more than 160 artists from around the world, including countries such as USA, Australia, Mongolia, South Africa, Luxembourg, Austria and beyond. They all give their time for free, to work on this significant and internationally cherished project. A key priority for us is always the artists’ health and safety, so to be able to provide them with such high-quality safety equipment, and tools that help bring their paintings to life, makes a huge difference to what we collectively achieve in Cheltenham. I’d like to thank 3M for its outstanding support of this year’s event.”
