Leading paint manufacturer crowned by Royal Household.
Crown Paints has been granted a Royal Warrant from His Majesty The King as part of the Royal Household’s latest round of awards.
The status recognises businesses upholding exceptional standards of service, quality, excellence and craftsmanship.
Crown was previously one of the longest standing holders of a Royal Warrant, having been awarded its first 75 years ago. The business was originally awarded the Royal Warrant by King George VI in 1949 and it was renewed by the Queen in 1955, demonstrating its continued commitment to manufacturing to the highest standards.
The company held the status until 2022 when King Charles III assumed the throne and the previous warrants, held under Queen Elizabeth II, expired.
Crown successfully demonstrated its commitment to sustainability, which aligned with The King’s and the Royal Warrant Holders Association’s own ambitions, as part of its 2024 application. Earlier this year the business was recognised by the British Coatings Federation – winning its Race to Net Zero Award – and was named Marie Claire’s Eco-Friendly Decorating Brand of the Year.
It also now uses 100 per cent renewable energy and launched its Project Possible roadmap outlining its net zero and zero waste to landfill ambitions.
Katie McLean, UK & Ireland Marketing Director at Crown Paints, said: “A Royal Warrant isn’t just a mark of recognition for Crown – it’s an illustration of our DNA as a discerning and conscientious business, with deep roots in our communities and with a passion for sustainability at our core.
“Our people are central to everything we do, and we’re lucky enough to still have people at Crown who can trace family members that played a part in our original warrant award in 1949. To be successfully granted a warrant again for the third consecutive monarch is a testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment of all our staff, who consistently uphold the highest possible standards and set an example to the entire industry. We’re equally proud and humbled by this news.”
Crown is part of Hempel Group, a global coatings company majority owned by The Hempel Foundation, an organisation that supports biodiversity, empowers children through education and drives initiatives that create positive change.
The company’s environmental and social initiatives, as part of its ESG programme Project Possible, as well as profits from paint sales, all contribute to Hempel’s efforts, helping to make a difference not just in the UK and Ireland, but across the world.
